All Points Bulletin: Reloaded / APB: Reloaded
« on: March 22, 2011, 11:07:55 pm »

Reloaded Productions Inc,. a subsidiary of GamersFirst, which is part of the K2 Network, has bought APB from Realtime Worlds.  They intended to bring it back next year as a free-to-play game, hoping to make their money back from micro-transactions.

So far, they?ve indicated the first half of next year, which leads me to wonder whether the prep-time is for the hardware infrastructure, or whether the game will receive a lot of tweaks and bug fixes prior to re-release.

?We are deep into the planning and early execution stages for this next chapter of APB and we will share more details in the near future. In order to put ?Gamers First? we will also actively engage the community in many aspects of all the planned changes.? said a rep for GamersFirst.

GamersFirst is no stranger to the free-to-play model.  They publish several, including War Rock and OurWorld.

GamersFirst CTO and COO Bjorn Book-Larsson told Kotaku:

?What we try to do is find out what people like to play and make that work,? Book-Larsson says. The company gathers data from the players of their games and uses that to shape the way the games evolve. ?It?s about building a long-term community and then modifying the game into something they want to play.

?First off you have to make a fun game, and then you get paid for it,? he continues, speaking of the free-to-play model, GamesFirst bread and butter.

Book-Larsson also told them that they?re going to be offering gear and weapon purchases (or leases) so that people can compete with more ?advanced players right off the bat?.

This is certain to put some people off who will feel that you will need to purchase this gear in order to survive on the streets, as it will be near impossible to quest in order to get equivalent gear.  It?s something we?ve discussed on the podcast at length.

That said, it sounds like they?re planning a lot of changes in order to ensure the game succeeds this time around.  Course, some people will be very skeptical about trying it again? let alone buying it.  Will I have to purchase the actual game again if I still own a valid serial number?

Most likely.  And since no mention has been made of this yet, I?m guessing this will be a complete reboot, requiring yet another purchase of the original game.

Official Press Release:

Curfew To Be Lifted In San Paro
Leading Free2Play Publisher Opens New Chapter for APB: All Points Bulletin

Irvine, Calif., November 16, 2010 - GamersFirst (www.gamersfirst.com) today?s most popular Free2Play? MMO publisher, announces that Reloaded Productions, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Gamersfirst, has acquired all the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) for the massively multiplayer online third-person shooter game ?APB: All Points Bulletin,? previously developed and owned by Dundee-based Realtime Worlds Ltd.

In September 2010, the joint administrators, Ken Pattullo and Paul Dounis, from business and restructuring specialist Begbies Traynor, said efforts to rescue Realtime Worlds had been unsuccessful but renewed efforts were made to conclude a sale of the IPR.

?We are obviously very happy to have concluded the sale but at the same time very much regret the loss of jobs as a result of the closure of Realtime Worlds,? said Paul Dounis of Begbies Traynor. ?As a consequence of the IPR asset sale all outstanding wages and holiday pay claims will be met in full. GamersFirst is a pioneer in the free-to-play space, thus APB will be re-launched as a free-to-play model game rather than the previous retail model. People who previously bought the game can now look forward to playing it again once it?s back online.?

?The acquisition of APB is an important complement to our main Free2Play? third-party publishing business,? says Joshua Hong, CEO of GamersFirst. ?We believe in putting our gamers first by encouraging the community to tell us what they like or dislike and then incorporate that feedback into our evolutionary development process. The core principle is to completely eliminate all economic barriers for gamers to experience our games.?

GamersFirst will publish APB: Reloaded as a AAA Free2Play? title, developed by US based Reloaded Productions Inc. using Unreal Engine 3.

?APB was a game that had several exceptional features and some brilliant ideas, even though it was plagued by some initial balance and monetization issues,? says Bjorn Book-Larsson, CTO and COO of GamersFirst, and responsible for GamersFirst?s studio and game development efforts. ?We want to take all the unique features of this title, such as its unparalleled character, weapon and car customization systems, and convert the game to a true free-to-play game. We are deep into the planning and early execution stages for this next chapter of APB and we will share more details in the near future. In order to put ?Gamers First? we will also actively engage the community in many aspects of all the planned changes.?

APB: All Points Bulletin is a massively multiplayer online third-person shooter game based in the modern-day fictional city of San Paro featuring two factions, Enforcers and Criminals. Players can join either faction, and then form their own customized team and group to join the constant battle across the urban landscape.

GamersFirst and Reloaded Productions plan to launch the next chapter of APB in the first half of 2011.

Medal Of Honor / medal of honor
« on: January 09, 2011, 02:20:33 pm »

Medal of Honor is a first-person shooter video game. Developed by Danger Close, a team within the EA Los Angeles studio, and DICE, it is the twelfth installment in the Medal of Honor series and was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 12, 2010. The game is a reboot of the series, taking place during the ongoing War in Afghanistan.

Medal of Honor's single-player campaign uses a heavily-modified version of Unreal Engine 3, and its multiplayer uses the Frostbite Engine. The game uses dedicated servers for PC and consoles. However the server files have not been made public and are only available through specific GSPs. It is the first game in the Medal of Honor franchise to receive an M rating from the ESRB.

The gameplay is designed to be realistic, and to this end EA has hired several consultants from the United States military. Typical in-game objectives are expected to be similar to those issued in real life such as raiding terrorist hideouts, hostage rescues and undercover operations. The game is loosely based on parts of Operation Anaconda; specifically, the events surrounding the Battle of Roberts Ridge.

Single player
The single player campaign takes place in 2002 ,Afghanistan. For half of the game, players assume the role of a DEVGRU operator codenamed "Rabbit", of AFO Neptune. For the remainder, the player alternates between the roles of a Delta Force sniper code-named "Deuce", of AFO Wolfpack, as well as Army Ranger Specialist Dante Adams of the 75th Ranger Regiment, and AH-64 Apache gunner Captain Brad "Hawk" Hawkins.

Multiplayer
Medal of Honor's multiplayer was developed by EA Digital Illusions CE. Multiplayer is class based, with three classes available - Rifleman, Special Ops, and Sniper. The player earns experience during gameplay to level up and unlock additional weapons and weapon accessories. For example, at the start of the game the sniper class does not have a proper sniper scope available, and the player must reach level 3 to unlock a combat scope. If a player earns a certain amount of points before dying, called a score chain, he or she earns a choice of an offensive support action such as a mortar strike or missile attack or a defensive support action such as intel or ammo. The player is not limited to one support action per life and can earn them continuously.

Gameplay features two opposing sides, the Coalition, usually referred by the in-game battle chatter to as "Python 1", against the Opposing Forces . The Coalition troops use American equipment such as the M16A4, AT4 and M9 pistol, while the Opposing Forces represent forces similar to the Taliban and use according equipment such as the AK-47, RPG-7 and Tariq pistol. Each weapon is designed to have a counterpart on both teams, although that counterpart may or may not have the same stats. Initially, the weapons are team-specific. However, as the player progresses, they will unlock weapons that are available for both sides, as well as unlocking the ability to use enemy weapons. Once reaching level 8 in any one class the player is considered Tier 1 and assumes a different appearance, and when killed the tier 1 player's killer receives 5 extra points for killing a tier 1 player.

On November 2, 2010, DICE released two DLCs for multiplayer?a game type called "Hot Zone", which is a king-of-the-hill style mode and another game type called "Clean Sweep", a last-man-standing game type

Five Things to Know About Red Dead Redemption Multiplayer

Day one of Red Dead Redemption (RDR) and all is going well.  I?ve played through a couple of hours of the story; trying not to get distracted by the local wildlife?I just can?t seem to stop killing deer?it?s becoming a sickness.  Well, after massacring a nomadic family of CG Bambi I decided to go into the multi-player world of RDR.  I played 5 hours of multi-player last night and I have come up with a few tips and what you should know about the multiplayer system in RDR.

1)  The multiplayer is a little broken right now.  I am sure that Rockstar is tweaking things so don?t get your panties in a wad, but if you are expecting to saddle up and ride into the sunset with your posse fully intact, don?t.  I tried linking up to 5 friends last night and invariably one would get kicked, or not be able to connect.  We?re not complaining, at least not yet, but this is a consideration, if you get easily frustrated, wait a week or so for things to cool off.

2)  This is the Wild West:  Popping into the free-roam mode of RDR is kind of like stepping off the stage coach smack dab in the middle of the OK Corral.  There will be roaming bands of killers out there gunning for fresh meat.  Take in the lay of the land; see if there are any posses nearby because they will be gunning for you.  It?s kill or be killed out there, so if you can drag a few partners onto the field do so, there is strength in numbers.  My only concern about this is the potential for griefing.  Nothing can ruin an experience for you more than constantly getting killed and re-spawning over and over again.  This is also the case with the ?gang hideout? missions that are part of the multiplayer.  Me and a buddy were trying to run through this hideout and while that was going on another group came up and crawfished us.  They started shooting us in the back and making an ass out of themselves.  Normally, this wouldn?t bother me that much but we were almost done with the mission and in the end didn?t make it.  If you are just wanting to just mess around with friends set up a private mach, believe me it?s less headache, you still get a lot of experience points, and much more fun.

3)  Tips for Gold Rush:  So far I have liked the Gold Rush game type.  This is multi-player mode where there are bags of gold lying around a map and the goal is to pick them up and run to a lock box and throw them in before someone kills you and takes it.  Here are a few tips to make sure you are victorious.  First thing is that the Shotgun is king.  Try and pick it up early and memorize where you found it.  It kills the opposition in one hit at close range.  The second thing is either camp or watch out for campers.  I cannot tell you how many times I would be running to the lock box with two bags of gold and was ambushed at the last second.  The last thing is that the game starts out with a ?Mexican Standoff? where you are all in a circle waiting for the game to start.  When the timer runs out, its shoot or be shot.  If you are the last one standing after the lead is thrown make your way to pick up the best guns on the map.  You have a few minutes while everyone is re-spawning.

4)  There are several ambient challenges available to get when in free-roam mode.  Included are hunting, survivalist, and shooting challenges as well as the ?public enemy? challenges based on taking on the law in and around New Austin.  These challenges give you XP so start racking up the points and become a legend in your own mind.

5)  My fifth and final tip has to do with the achievements in this game.  There are several based on the multiplayer that you need to be aware of.  If you wait too long, you might have trouble finding people to help you out with them so here they are.  Get them early, and you won?t have to worry about them later on in the game cycle.

Have Gun Will Travel (20) ? Complete all Hideouts in a single public Free Roam session

Go Team! (20) ? Be on the winning team for four consecutive victories in any team based game in public matches.

Hit the Trail (10) ? Get from Blackwater to Escalera before sundown in a public Free Roam session.

How the West Was Won (20) ? Reach the top rank for multiplayer experience.

Most Wanted (10) ? Become a Public Enemy for 10 minutes and escape alive in a public Free Roam session

Posse Up! (10) ? Create a posse and get the maximum number of members.

Red Dead Rockstar (10) ? Kill a Rockstar or someone with this achievement in a public multiplayer match.

Slow on the Draw (10) ? Get 10 assists in a single Hideout in a public Free Roam session.

The Quick and Everyone Else? (20) ? Be the top scoring player in any three consecutive FFA games in public matches

John Marston is a partially reformed outlaw in America in 1911. When federal agents threaten his family, Marston is sent across the American West to help uphold the law. He must kill or capture his former gang members, including his old friend and gang partner Bill Williamson, or his family will pay the ultimate price.

Along the way through frontier towns, deserts, prairies, and mountain passes, Marston is given work as he explores the free-roaming sandbox environments. The game features thirty-six species of animals that can be hunted, including cattle, bears, rattlesnakes, wolves, vultures, bighorn sheep, owls, cougars, buffalo, and more.

The game takes place in 1911, which is the middle of the 30-year end of the Western American Frontier (also known as the Wild West). As players see in the opening of the game, many new and "unfamiliar" people are moving into the West on the train. The town of Blackwater has noticeable modernized differences in architecture and technology compared to other gritty towns like Armadillo and Thieves' Landing. Electric line poles are also noticeable along roads. Marshal Leigh Johnson is seen fussing with a telephone in one of his mission cutscenes, showing the unfamiliarity with such technology people of his generation and likeness have.

Some people have a hard time accepting this new lifestyle, as many want to fight to preserve their way of life. Players can see the frustration many characters have with the Federal Government and eastern folk. Being so far away from the modern America gave the West a sense of self reliance and makeshift law and order which would be hard to comply with the Federal Government. It was inevitable, as more and more people poured in from the east, that every corner of the American West would be populated. It wasn't until the 20's that the untamed Wild West would forever become an icon in American history.

Multiplayer
Multiplayer in Red Dead Redemption consists of multiple game modes, and allows players to play co-operatively or competitively through an online connection. One thing to note about the multiplayer is that PS3 users will not be able to use multiplayer if they have the NAT3 network setting.

Red Dead Redemption multiplayer does not have a traditional "game lobby": instead, it starts out in Free Roam mode, with the entire map open for exploration, along with Hunting areas and Gang Hideouts of which players can take advantage. From there, players can establish player parties with other players, called Posses, or choose to participate in various game modes via an in-game menu or various entry points around the game world.

Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2) / Left 4 Dead 2 (L4D2)
« on: October 01, 2010, 12:11:54 pm »

Left 4 Dead 2 is a cooperative first-person shooter game. It is the sequel to Valve Corporation's award-winning Left 4 Dead. The game launched on November 17, 2009, for Microsoft Windows and Xbox 360 in the United States; it launched November 20 in Europe. It builds upon the cooperatively-focused gameplay of the original and uses Valve's proprietary Source engine, the same game engine used in Left 4 Dead. The game made its world premiere at E3 2009 with a trailer during the Microsoft press event.

Like the original, Left 4 Dead 2 is set during the aftermath of an apocalyptic pandemic, and focuses on four survivors fighting against hordes of the infected. The survivors must fight their way through levels, interspersed with safe houses that act as checkpoints, with the goal of reaching a rescue vehicle at the campaign's finale. The gameplay is procedurally altered by an artificial intelligence engine dubbed the "Director" that monitors the players' performance and adjust the scenario to provide a dynamic challenge. Several new features have been introduced: new types of infected, melee weapons, and a story-arc that connects the game's five campaigns together.

When it was announced, it received a combination of positive and negative critical and community reactions. It also attracted an unusually high volume of pre-release controversy about the game's graphic content. In response, alterations were made to the cover art and the Australian Office of Film and Literature Classification refused to rate the unmodified edition.

Resident Evil 1

A virus has escaped in a secret facility called "The Hive," turning the staff into hungry zombies and releasing the mutated Lab "Animals" that they were studying. The complex computer shuts down the base to prevent infection. The parent corporation sends in an elite military unit, where they meet Alice, who is suffering from amnesia due to exposure to nerve gas. The military team must shut down the computer and get out, fighting their way past zombies, mutants, and the computer itself, before the virus escapes and infects the rest of the world. Alice must also come to terms with her slowly-returning memories.

The Umbrella corporation is one of the most powerful companies in the world. Unknown to the world, it's success is due to a secret underground lab where viral weapons are tested and made. A new virus that the company created escapes, turning hundreds of scientists into flesh hungry zombies. The main computer shuts down the labs for risk of infection. A special task force is sent in to shut down the main computer and quarantine the deadly virus. What awaits them is beyond ordinary procedure.

Resident Evil 2

The game begins on September 25, 1998, as the citizens of Raccoon City have been turned into zombies by a biological weapon known as the T-virus.

Leon S. Kennedy, a police officer on his first day in the Raccoon Police Department, and Claire Redfield, a college student looking for her brother, enter the city. They fight their way to the police station. There they find Ada Wong and a little girl named Sherry Birkin.

They learn that Claire's brother, Chris Redfield, has gone to Europe to stop Umbrella's experiments. They escape the station through the sewers and find Annette Birkin, Sherry's mother. They learn that the viral outbreak was accidental, that her husband William Birkin has turned into a monster who plans to infect Sherry with the G-virus and that Ada is a spy. They fight their way to Umbrella's underground laboratory where the T- and G-viruses are being produced. On the way to the labs, William Birkin infects Sherry.

Claire continues into the laboratory to find the cure. Annette tries to kill Claire, thinking she wanted the G-virus, but is killed by her husband. As she dies, Annette tells Claire how to prepare the cure for Sherry. Leon and Ada face the T-103 and Ada apparently dies.

When the laboratory self-destruct is activated, Claire tells Leon to get Sherry and go to the train, which will take them out of the underground laboratory, while she prepares the cure. The three escape the self-destructing laboratory. Claire injects Sherry with the cure and Birkin reappears, now a massive blob as a result of the G-virus mutation, making one final attack. The self-destruct mechanism activates on the train, and they escape as the train explodes, killing Birkin.

Resident Evil 4

In Resident Evil 4, you take on the role of Leon S. Kennedy, a government agent who previously appeared in Resident Evil 2. Tasked to rescue the President's daughter, who's been kidnapped by mysterious villains, you find yourself chasing leads in the backcountry of Spain, where a sinister threat arises, not just against a single kidnapped girl, but against the entire world. Although the Umbrella Corporation is a thing of the past, as are the zombies that infested the previous games, you'll still have plenty of people in your way here.

In GameSpot's guide to Resident Evil 4, you'll find some general strategies to help you out, as well as a complete walkthrough for the game, complete with video coverage of all of the major boss fights. In addition, the unlockable features here are all covered, including the secret weapons and the two major additional gameplay modes: Assignment Ada and the incredibly fun Mercenaries.

Since this guide was originally written for the GameCube version of the game, the Separate Ways content is not covered. Note that most of the mentions of the controls are also based on the GameCube version, so you may need to adapt a bit if you're playing on the Playstation 2 or the Wii. For the most part, though, the content should still be applicable.

Resident Evil 5

The game begins as Chris Redfield is deployed to Kijuju, Africa, to join Sheva Alomar in the apprehension of Ricardo Irving, who is attempting to sell a bio-organic weapon on the black market. Along the way, they witness a local being fed a parasite, which quickly takes control of his body, turning him into a Majini. As they progress, almost all Kijuju locals seen by Chris and Sheva have been turned into Majini. While moving to the location of Irving's deal, Chris and Sheva find Alpha team dead, except Captain DeChant, who gives them a hard drive containing data about Irving before he dies. Shortly after, a friendly helicopter is downed, and all nearby BSAA units are ordered to go to the crash site. At the crash site, Chris and Sheva are ambushed by Majini on motorcycles, but are then saved by Delta team. Among Delta team is Josh Stone, Sheva's mentor who gives Chris data from a hard drive that contains a picture of Jill Valentine, his old partner, who was presumed dead after a confrontation with Albert Wesker. Chris does not tell Sheva about the image and they continue. They eventually confront Irving and during this confrontation, a hooded figure arrives to aid Irving's escape. Irving leaves behind files which indicate that an oil field in the Marshlands, which was used to test out bio-organic weapons, is the deal location. The previously suspected location is discovered to be a hoax to slow the BSAA while the actual deal was taking place. Chris and Sheva report this to headquarters and then attempt to regroup with Delta team. Upon arriving at the rendezvous point, they find that Delta team has also been killed by a bio-organic weapon, but Sheva cannot find Josh among them. After defeating the bio-weapon, Sheva suggests reporting back to HQ, being that they are the two sole survivors. Chris refuses, admitting to Sheva his true reason for participating in the mission, and expresses his determination in finding out if Jill is still alive. After a brief argument, Sheva concludes that they are partners, and she will help him all the way. They continue on to the Marshlands, eventually finding Josh alive. They pursue Irving on a boat, but he escapes again and the oil field is blown up while the two escape on a speedboat with Josh. The trio locate and catch up to Irving's boat, and Chris and Sheva board it. Irving confronts the duo, and then injects himself with a virus, which causes him to mutate into a gigantic beast. Chris and Sheva defeat the mutated Irving, who is detached from the gigantic beast body, and upon death, he tells Chris that he will find answers to his questions in a nearby cave.

Upon arriving in the cave, Josh leaves the pair in order to report to HQ. The cavern leads Chris and Sheva to the underground kingdom of the Ndipaya tribe. As they explore, they find an underground base, one of the first to be set up by Umbrella, but currently operated by Tricell. Chris and Sheva find evidence and documentation that the Progenitor virus, which is the component in both the T and G-virus that controls a subject's body, was found and manufactured here. The Progenitor virus was manufactured from a plant residing in the Ndipaya kingdom, called the Stairway to the Sun. The plant was used in Ndipayan ceremonies, but Ozwell Spencer took interest in it, and drove the Ndipaya out to build a base and study the plant, which eventually yielded the Progenitor virus. Chris and Sheva progress through the underground laboratory, and find a massive chamber with thousands of capsules containing human test subjects. The facility is documented in one of the hard drives, so Chris searches the computer database for an entry about Jill. The elevator takes them to the capsule in which Jill was being held. The bio-organic weapon, U-8, attempts to stop them from going up, but Chris and Sheva defeat the weapon and continue. They reach the capsule and open it to find it empty. Excella Gionne then appears on a computer screen and warns them to leave. Chris and Sheva later intercept a radio transmission of Excella talking to Wesker, indicating Wesker's survival. They confront Excella, but she infects a test subject with the Uroboros virus, which turns him into a bio-weapon. After killing the weapon, the two pursue Excella, eventually catching up to her. When interrogating Excella, Chris and Sheva are attacked by the hooded figure who aided Irving's escape. Wesker then reveals himself and unmasks the hooded figure, Jill, who is hostile and fights alongside Wesker. After a short fight, Wesker escapes leaving Chris and Sheva to battle Jill. They spot a device on Jill's chest, which they remove, and she regains control of her body. She apologizes for her actions and urges Chris and Sheva to pursue Wesker. Chris, who is reluctant to leave Jill, grudgingly agrees.

Chris and Sheva emerge on the surface and spot Wesker and Excella boarding a cargo ship. They pursue them and board the ship. They find Excella but she escapes, dropping a case of full syringes, which Sheva collects. Meanwhile, Wesker reminisces about a confrontation with Spencer, who tells Wesker that he is the only surviving subject from the "Wesker Plan," which was an attempt to create the ideal human being for Spencer's envisioned utopia. Spencer fantasizes about being the god of this utopia and Wesker impales him, declaring, "The right to be a god? That right is now mine."

Chris reflects on what he's fighting for in the game's final cinematic.Meanwhile, Chris and Sheva find a pile of corpses with Excella among them, alive but in pain. Wesker, over the ship's intercom system, implies that Excella has been infected with Uroboros. Suddenly, Uroboros erupts from Excella's mouth, consuming her body and absorbing the corpses. Chris and Sheva escape, regroup, and use a satellite laser on the cargo ship to defeat the giant Uroboros monster. They continue to pursue Wesker, whom they spot over a surveillance monitor about to board a bomber that, if shot down, would infect the entire world with the Uroboros virus. Jill then calls Chris and tells him that Wesker's strength is the result of a potentially unstable virus and that he must regularly inject a serum in precise amounts to maintain his power. Before losing connection, Jill suggests that an overdose of this drug, which Excella always carried in a suitcase by her, would likely act as a poison. Sheva then discovers that the serum is in one of the syringes she collected from Excella. The two find Wesker, restrain him, and inject him with the serum. He escapes onto the bomber, and they pursue him. After a short confrontation with Wesker, Chris deactivates the bomber, which plummets into a volcano. Before they crash, Sheva shoots Wesker off the bomber into the volcano below. Chris and Sheva, now in the volcano, discover that Wesker survived and he infects himself with Uroboros. They defeat the infected Wesker, who falls into the lava. A helicopter appears over the horizon, manned by Josh and Jill, and Chris and Sheva board it. As it attempts to fly away, Wesker tries to pull it down into the lava with him. Chris and Sheva kill[25] Wesker with two rocket-propelled grenades, and the helicopter is freed. In the helicopter, Chris ponders whether it is worth fighting to preserve humanity. He looks at Sheva and Jill and then decides it is worth it.

« on: September 29, 2010, 10:01:37 am »

Counter-Strike: Source is a remake of Counter-Strike, and consequently retains its team-based objective-oriented first-person shooter style gameplay. The aim of playing a map is to accomplish a map's objective. There are many types of objectives that a map can have, but the ultimate goal of the game is to win more rounds than the opposing team, which is accomplished by fulfilling the map's winning conditions. Some winning conditions include defusing a bomb, planting a bomb and preventing it from being defused by the other team, rescuing all the hostages on a map, preventing the hostages from being rescued, and defeat all the members of the opposing team. When playing on a server without modifications, if players are defeated during a round, they do not respawn until the next round, unlike in many other first-person shooter games, where players respawn on a set timer.

Moving and shooting also differs noticeably from many other first-person shooters. Shooting while moving dramatically decreases accuracy, and holding the mouse button down to continuously shoot will generally produce severe recoil. Recoil can be difficult for beginning players to compensate for because the player's reticle does not correspond with where the bullets actually hit during continuous fire, so beginning players may aim too high during automatic fire. The amount of damage done by a bullet varies dramatically depending upon the body part the bullet hits, with great emphasis on shooting the enemy in the head, which is almost invariably lethal.

Aspects of the game that have changed from Counter-Strike include the behavior of the grenades, the physics engine, and the weapons' recoil. The smoke grenades in Counter-Strike: Source spread much more slowly than the ones in Counter-Strike, and the flashbangs, which now utilize DirectX 9 effects, have a much more pronounced effect, and bounce very differently from the ones in Counter-Strike. Counter-Strike: Source also implements physics objects, such as filing cabinets, which the user can interact with while playing. The recoil in Counter-Strike: Source differs from the recoil in Counter-Strike in that while Counter-Strike had perfectly consistent recoil, the recoil in Counter-Strike: Source is much less precise.

Zombie Panic Source / Zombie Panic: Source

Gameplay

The game features two modes of gameplay, "Zombie Panic! Survival mode and Zombie Panic! Objective mode. In survival mode, the zombies start with an appropriate number of lives which are slowly depleted as zombies are killed and subsequently come back. In this mode, the round can only be won if one side completely destroys the other. A Zombie life is gained if a human is killed. Objective mode either introduces a set of objectives the survivors must complete, or pits the survivors against a non-stop zombie onslaught for a fixed amount of time. The zombie team has an infinite number of lives in objective mode, so zombies can always join the action again if they are killed.

Scattered throughout the levels are various forms of furniture, decor, and miscellaneous items that can be used to block zombies and/or barricade a room or location of choice. Also available is a dedicated barricading-tool; the hammer, which can be used to nail boards to walls.

Humans

Humans start with a handgun and a melee weapon. Survivors have access to a wide variety of firearms and melee weapons alike to aid them in fighting off the zombie team.

Zombies

They start in small numbers, with the goal of thwarting the humans' attempts at survival or completion of objectives. Zombies have an alternative vision mode which brightens any light sources present and causes survivors to appear with a red aura, and green for infected survivors.

Carrier

The Carrier zombie is a pale, slightly stronger zombie that carries a 10% chance of infection when attacking a survivor. There is only one carrier each round. If a human is infected, they will eventually turn into a zombie. When infected, the survivor becomes vulnerable to friendly fire, allowing other survivors to kill them before they turn.

Weight

Weapons and ammo both slow the player down. This forces the player to ration their inventory, unlike most First-person shooter games.

Day of Defeat: Source is a team-based first-person shooter multiplayer video game developed by Valve Corporation. Set in World War II, the game is an updated version of Day of Defeat, moving from the GoldSrc engine used by its predecessor to the Source engine. The game was released for Microsoft Windows on 26 September 2005, distributed through Valve's online content delivery service Steam. Retail distribution of the game was handled by Electronic Arts.

The game was officially announced in February 2005. During the course of its development, Day of Defeat: Source progressed from being a straight conversion of Day of Defeat, to the alteration of certain aspects of the game's design and introduction of several new features. In addition, Day of Defeat: Source has been used by Valve to present new design features on the Source engine, such as high dynamic range rendering and cinematic effects. The game itself revolves around two teams, the US Army and the German Wehrmacht, each with access to six player classes, fighting in a variety of scenarios inspired by World War II engagements in the European Theatre of 1944.

About the Game
Garry's Mod is a physics sandbox. Unlike regular games there aren't any predefined aims or goals. We give you the tools and leave you to play.
You spawn objects and weld them together to create your own contraptions - whether that's a car, a rocket, a catapult or something that doesn't have a name yet - that's up to you.
If you're not too great at construction - don't worry! You can place a variety of characters in silly positions.

Team Fortress 2 / Team Fortress 2

Team Fortress 2 is a team-based first-person shooter multiplayer video game developed by Valve Corporation. A sequel to Valve's previous Team Fortress Classic, it was first released as part of the video game compilation The Orange Box on October 10, 2007 for Windows and the Xbox 360. A PlayStation 3 version then followed on November 22, 2007. The game was later released as a standalone package for Windows on April 9, 2008. Team Fortress 2 was distributed online through the Steam system, while retail distribution was handled by Electronic Arts. The development of Team Fortress 2 was led by John Cook and Robin Walker, the designers who originally created the Team Fortress modification for Quake in 1996.

The game was announced in 1998, powered by Valve's GoldSrc engine, but has since been through various concepts and designs. In 1999, the game appeared to be deviating from its predecessors by pursuing a more realistic and militaristic style of gameplay, but the design metamorphosed over its nine-year development period. The final rendition sports cartoon style visuals influenced by the art of J. C. Leyendecker, Dean Cornwell and Norman Rockwell and is powered by the Source engine. The game itself revolves around two teams, each with access to nine distinct characters, battling in a variety of game modes set in evil genius environments.

The lack of information or apparent progress for six years of the game's development caused it to be labeled as vaporware, and it was regularly featured in Wired News' annual vaporware list among other ignominies. Upon its release, the game received critical acclaim and several awards, being praised for its graphical style, balanced gameplay, comedic value and for its use of full character personalities in a dedicated multiplayer game.

Classes
There are nine unique player classes in Team Fortress 2, categorized into offense, defense, and support roles.[16] Each class has at least three weapons: a unique primary weapon, a secondary weapon such as a shotgun or pistol, and a distinct melee weapon in keeping with the character, such as a liquor bottle for the Demoman, a kukri for the Sniper, and a fire axe for the Pyro.

The three offensive classes are the Scout, the Soldier, and the Pyro. The Scout (voiced by Nathan Vetterlein) is portrayed as a fast-talking baseball fan from Boston, Massachusetts, and is a fast, agile character armed with a scattergun and capable of performing double jumps; however, the Scout cannot sustain much damage. The Soldier (voiced by Rick May) is more durable, but is consequently slower in his speed. A stereotypical American military man, the Soldier is armed with a rocket launcher which can be used to rocket jump to higher positions. The final offensive class is the Pyro (voiced by Dennis Bateman). Clad in a fire-retardant suit and a voice-muffling gas mask, the Pyro carries a flamethrower that can set other players on fire, as well as being able to produce a blast of compressed air that knocks nearby enemies and projectiles away.

The Demoman, the Heavy, and the Engineer make up the defensive classes. The Demoman (voiced by Gary Schwartz) is a black, one-eyed Scotsman who drinks heavily. Armed with a grenade launcher and a sticky bomb launcher, the Demoman can use his equipment to provide indirect fire onto enemy positions. The Heavy (also voiced by Schwartz) is a stereotypical Russian character, with a huge figure and heavy accent, obsessed with his guns to the point of naming them. The Heavy can sustain more damage than any other class and puts out immense amounts of firepower, but is slowed down by both his own size and that of his minigun. The Engineer (voiced by Grant Goodeve) is the last defensive class, portrayed as a relaxed and intellectual "good ol' boy" from Texas. The Engineer is capable of building a number of structures to support his team: a sentry gun to defend key points, a health and ammunition dispenser and a teleporter system.

From left to right: Pyro, Engineer, Spy, Heavy, Sniper, Scout, Soldier, Demoman, MedicThe final category, support, consists of the Medic, the Sniper, and the Spy. The Medic (voiced by Robin Atkin Downes) is a German doctor from Stuttgart with little regard for the Hippocratic Oath, responsible for keeping his teammates alive. The Medic is accordingly armed with a "medigun" to heal teammates, and can make teammates temporarily invulnerable or enhance their firepower after the medigun has been used for a brief time. The Sniper (voiced by John Patrick Lowrie) is a cheerful Australian character who rationalises his line of work, equipped with a laser sighted sniper rifle to attack enemies from afar and a submachine gun for close combat. The last support class is the deadpan Spy (voiced by Dennis Bateman): in addition to a revolver, he is equipped with covert tools, such as a temporary cloaking device, an electronic sapper to sabotage Engineers' structures, and a device hidden in his cigarette case that gives him the ability to disguise as other players. The Spy can also use his butterfly knife to stab enemies in the back, which instantly kills them.

Valve has stressed their focus on game balance when considering new improvements to the character classes. Every class has its own strengths and weaknesses which leads to reliance on other classes in order to be efficient. This forces gameplay into more strategic thinking and an increased utilization of teamwork than would be found if one class had inherent superior advantages. Each of the classes in the three categories have shared strengths and weaknesses, while each individual class also has its own advantages.
